Wall thickening
Mean free-contraction measurement, silicone prototypeMore than a pump. Closer to a heart.
Bringing Natural Motion To Artificial Hearts. We are rethinking artificial cardiac technology from the movement of the living heart outward.
Original approved brand artworkA heart does more than pump.
Every heartbeat is a choreography of motions. The ventricle thickens, shortens, and twists before relaxing again. These movements are fundamental to how the living heart works. What if artificial cardiac systems could be designed from that same choreography?
Inspired by anatomy.
Designed around motion.
Our research explores a soft artificial ventricle built around continuous, torus-inspired muscular pathways. Rather than treating the heart as a chamber that simply squeezes, we design around the coordinated deformation of its walls.
Beyond a vision.
Built and tested.
Physical soft-ventricle prototypes have been studied in free-contraction experiments and a mock circulatory loop. These research results provide an initial foundation for a much longer journey toward usable products.

Detailed protocols and datasets can be discussed with research collaborators.
One idea.
Several ways to matter.
Our long-term destination is a biomimetic implantable artificial heart. Along the way, we are exploring applications with different engineering, validation, and regulatory demands.

An artificial heart that moves more like a living one.
Our ambition is a fully implantable soft biomimetic total artificial heart. Realizing that vision will require major advances in durability, blood compatibility, physiological control, reliability, and clinical validation.
